Chelsea Lomandra is an artist specialising in a variety of art and wellness practices. Her annual book teaches the mental health benefits of an arts practice, mood/habit tracking and journaling. Chelsea completed an RADF grant project in 2020 called 'Collecting Colours' and continued this project in 2023 at their artist residency in The Churn Room. She has been running her arts practice for over a decade in South East Queensland and interstate. Throughout 2023 - 2024 she founded a pop up collaborative art space 'Studio Lomandra' in Samford Village, to provide a venue for local artist, musicians and wellness practitioners to share inspiration and host events.

Chelsea believes that by building a community of likeminded practitioners we will be stronger and instil growth in ourselves and in the people we share our knowledge with. In 2024 she received a grant to complete the audio interview series ' Community Connections, interviewing artists across many generations about the artist stories. The Community Connections series will be released from late 2025 and will continue in the form of an online magazine interviewing artists around the world. Chelsea is currently travelling Europe and UK working with artists and building on her practice. She is continuing her 'Collecting Colours' and 'Community Connections' project on an international scale creating foraged inks and gathering the stories of artist through interviews for her online archive.

Chelsea is also artist in residence with Sam Lewis in the 'Maakgemeenschap De hoop' Atelier in Amsterdam. Collaboratively Sam and Chelsea are creating a body of natural inks, showcases and workshops.

THE STUDIO LOMANDRA PROJECT

Studio Lomandra is a platform created to foster collaboration amongst artists. Chelsea opened her pop up studio and gallery in Samford to build community and get to know local artists. The studio is now online as an audio archive of interviews, shining a spotlight on as many artisans as it can by sharing their stories.

The Studio Lomandra magazines and interviews are being launched with the intention of passing knowledge between generations of artists across the world. The 'Community Connections' project was provided funding by The 'Regional arts Development Fund' to begin the project in the Moreton Bay Region of South East Queensland.
