In my pigment making process I first make lake dyes, then I make inks from those dyes. I use a very simple and traditional technique using only basic ingredients. I add salt and vinegar to the dye to preserve the liquid. I am yet to do my lightfastness tests to see how it lasts, that is the last step of the series. This ink making technique is something I encourage any beginner enthusiasts to try out!
